\nLast week, at the Resurrection Parish in General Santos, Philippines, Priest Roman Buniel baptized a young couple with the names Ilya and Irina. The sacrament was performed in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
\nIlya is an American, a former Protestant. While still in his homeland, Texas, he learned about Orthodoxy and began an independent study of the faith.
\n\u201cWhen Ilya moved to the Philippines, he was very happy to learn that there was an Orthodox Church here,\u201d said Father Roman.
\nIlya and his Filipina wife Irina spent three months preparing for the sacrament under the guidance of Father Roman.
