Anniversary of the enthronement of Patriarch Kirill


Bishops of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia assisted His Holiness Patriarch Kirill at the Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on the 17th anniversary of His Holiness’s enthronement.
On February 1, the Russian Orthodox Church prayerfully commemorates the 17th anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’. Prayers are offered in all churches and monasteries for the Primate of the Church, elected to the Moscow Patriarchal Throne at the 2009 Local Council.
On this significant day, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow, wearing his enthronement vestments and holding a replica of St. Peter’s staff.
His Holiness was assisted by a host of hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church, including the Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, and Archbishop Feofan of Korea.
The Primate of the Russian Church addressed the participants of the solemn service with a Primate’s sermon.
Then, by decree of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, the Most Reverend Archpastors who celebrated memorable dates and who especially labored for the good of the Holy Church, including the hierarchs of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia, were awarded church awards.
In recognition of his zealous archpastoral labors and in connection with his 70th birthday, Metropolitan Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut was awarded the Order of St. Sergius of Radonezh, 2nd class.
In conclusion, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed the participants of the service.
A reception followed to mark the 17th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s enthronement.
