Festive events dedicated to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin’s birthday (June 6) and the Day of the Russian Language were held in Mehan Park of Manila on June 7. These events are not taking place for the first time: last year, the Russian Federation presented the Republic of the Philippines with a monument to the poet, which was installed in Mehan Park. The event is organized jointly by the Russian Embassy in the Philippines and the Manila City Hall. Officials of both states took part in it: Russian Ambassador M. Pavlov, Senator A. Pimentel, representatives of the city halls of Manila and Moscow, as well as public organizations and the Russian Orthodox Church. Filipinos, former students of Soviet universities, and other lovers of Russian culture came to honor the memory of the great poet, the father of the modern Russian language.
