Newly ordained deacon is sent to new place of service in Tagaytay City (Philippines)
With the blessing of Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, Administrator of the Philippines-Vietnamese Diocese, newly ordained Deacon Luke Tababa was sent to a new place of service in the Philippines — Christ the Savior Parish in Tagaytay City.
On February 19, his family was met at the airport by the rector of the parish, Priest David Grubbs, and Matushka Irina.
Deacon Luke studied at a theological school in Russia and was ordained in late November in Davao by Metropolitan Pavel during his archpastoral visit to the islands. After his ordination, the cleric underwent liturgical practice at the missionary center of the Blessed Matrona of Moscow in Davao.
Father David Grubbs heads the diocesan department for charity and social service, and Father Luke will assist the priest.
On February 23, the Sunday of the Last Judgment, at the parish of Christ the Savior, Priest David, assisted by Deacon Luke, celebrated the Divine Liturgy.
On the same day, the sacrament of Baptism of a local resident took place.
