From April 28 to May 7, Hieromonk Korniliy (Molev), Secretary of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese, conducted a missionary tour of northern Mindanao. Mindanao is the second-largest island in the Philippine archipelago, so travel between settlements took approximately eight hours a day.
In Manukan (Zamboanga del Norte Province), Father Korniliy inspected the progress of construction of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Then the priest visited the community of St. Mark of Ephesus in Cagayan de Oro City, where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy. The faithful regularly gather there for services as lay members.
Hieromonk Korniliy then visited the city of Iligan, home to Orthodox Christians who, due to its remoteness, rarely have the opportunity to attend church services. There, the priest met with local residents who wished to become Orthodox and held catechetical talks with them.
The next stop was the city of Surigao, located on the coast of the Surigao Strait, which connects the Mindanao Sea with the Pacific Ocean. Father Korniliy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of St. George the Victorious.
Finally, the priest met with Orthodox Christians in the city of Bayugan.
