From May 19 to 25, the Philippines-Vietnam Diocese is holding a camp for Orthodox youth. The event brings together young people and teenagers from different parts of the island of Mindanao.
The children will participate in church services, study the basics of the Orthodox faith, and will be able to ask priests questions. In addition, they will have active games, sports competitions, hikes, and contests.
On May 19, some of the participants gathered at the parish of the Resurrection of Christ in General Santos.
The secretary of the diocese, Hieromonk Korniliy (Molev), priest Juventinus Bulaqueña, and priest Matthew Sale, co-served by Deacon Dimitri Cahilig, performed a prayer service to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker before the start of the camp.
The service was preceded by a rehearsal of the youth choir. After the prayer, pectoral crosses were distributed to those of the children who needed them.
After a shared meal, the participants headed to the city of Salasang, where the camp will be held in the building of a comprehensive school. For some of the children, this is the beginning of their journey in Orthodoxy, and communication with the clergy and like-minded people will be useful for strengthening their faith.
