On August 22, in the Manila area known as the “U-belt” due to the large number of universities located there, a meeting was held between Orthodox priests and students interested in Orthodoxy. The event was organized by the students themselves with the help of priests of the Manila Deanery, Priest David Grubbs and Hieromonk John (Gondayao), as well as a parishioner of the Iveron Parish, Paul. The meeting began with a prayer service to the Most Holy Theotokos. Then the priests gave a lecture to those gathered on how ancient Christian wisdom is relevant and useful in the lives of students today. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and express their thoughts to the priests on topics related to church teaching and practical advice on how to live an Orthodox life in a student environment.
