On November 21, a meeting of the Synod of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia was held at the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Tagaytay City, Republic of the Philippines, chaired by Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia.
Participating in the Synod were Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, Administrator of the Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam; Archbishop Theophan of Korea, Administrator of the Diocese of Korea; and Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, Vicar of the Diocese of Singapore.
Opening the meeting, the participants expressed sincere gratitude to His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, and the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church for their continued support of Orthodox communities in Asia.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues concerning the activities of the Patriarchal Exarchate and the further development of parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in the countries of Southeast Asia, as well as the strengthening of interfaith dialogue in the region, were considered.
