Filipino Students from Russian Theological Schools Participate in “Synodal Translation: History and Modernity” Conference

On October 5–6, the Tomsk Seminary hosted the all-Russian research-to-practice conference “Synodal Translation: History and Modernity: Marking the 150th Anniversary of the Synodal Translation’s Publication,” held with international participation and the blessing of Metropolitan Rostislav of Tomsk and Asino.

The event brought together representatives from eight theological schools who had come to Russia from various countries to pursue their studies.

Participants included seminarians and female students from the conducting department hailing from the Philippines.

On the first day of the conference, during the session titled “Bible Translations into National Languages,” Filipino student Gavriil Buniel presented a paper on the translation of the Holy Scriptures into the Cebuano language.

On October 6, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated using the native languages ​​of the conference participants.

Filipino female students from the conducting department performed the liturgical chants during the service.
