Metropolitan Pavel met with the Filipino students

On June 19, in St. Petersburg, Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi met with students of the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese who are studying at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. The meeting was attended by: Third Secretary and Vice-Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the Russian Federation Mrs. Catherine Flores Alpay, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Students of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy Archpriest Dimitri Sizonenko. Vladyka Pavel addressed the seminarians with a parting word and wishes for God’s help in the responsible task of teaching for the further service of the Church of Christ.

Priesthood ordination

On June 19, the Sunday of All Saints, Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi ordained Hierodeacon John (Gondayao) to the rank of Hieromonk. We wish Father John self-denial, spiritual strength and God’s help in his new ministry. Axios!

Meeting of the Most Holy Patriarch with Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi

On June 16, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia held a working meeting with Metropolitan Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence at the Danilov Monastery in Moscow.

During the meeting, the issues of completing the construction of the Trinity Cathedral in Surgut and the development of church life in the dioceses of the Khanty-Mansi Metropolia, as well as in the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese were discussed (in 2019, Metropolitan Pavel, in addition to the obediences carried out, was entrusted with the management of this diocese, which is part of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia).

Birthday of the Church

Congratulations to everyone on the Feast of St. Pentecost, which coincided this year with the national holidays of Russia and the Philippines and the consecration day of Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi. Many years to all!

Shrines in Tagaytay

On May 31 the “Round-the-world” icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God completed its journey through the Orthodox Philippines by visiting the parish of Christ the Savior in Tagaytay. Among the pious Christians who found an opportunity to come to Tagaytay on a working day to honor the icon and the accompanying shrines were representatives of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, as well as a number of non-canonical churches. Tomorrow the icon will leave for Japan, and other shrines (particles of the Life-Giving Cross, of the Veil of the Mother of God and of 20 relics of saints) will be temporarily available for worship at the parish of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God in Manila until they are distributed to the parishes of the diocese. On June 10, the shrines will visit the parish of St. Nicholas on the island of Cebu.

Mindanao program finished

On May 29, the icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God with other shrines completed its journey through Mindanao Island, after Arakan visiting the parishes of the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov in Makalangot and St. Apostles Peter and Paul in Salasan.

Marriage at the Iveron parish

On May 29, on the 6th Sunday of Easter, the wedding of our parishioners Sergius and Mary was performed at the parish in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God in Manila after the Divine Liturgy. From the bride’s side, invited relatives and friends attended the sacraments; for them visiting an Orthodox church was an important event in their lives. We wish the new family to become a true home church.

Shrines in the Northern Deanery

On May 28 the “Round-the-world” icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God, particles of the Holy Cross and relics of the saints arrived in the Northern Deanery of Mindanao. They were offered to the parishioners of the churches of St. Isidore in Meokan, of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Elena in Little Baguio, of St. Anna in Malibatuan, of Archangel Michael in Mahongok and of the Nativity of the Virgin in Arakan.

Shrines pilgrimage ongoing

On May 26, the Round-the-world Icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God, the Holy Cross and icons of Saints with relics visited the parishes of the Central Deanery of the Mindanao Island of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese, where they were greeted with joy by parishioners of: the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Kinabalan, the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in Banate, the Church of the Epiphany in Talas, the Church of St. St. John of Shanghai in Santa Maria and the Church of St. Matrona of Moscow in Davao.
