On July 20, the 6th Sunday after Pentecost, the secretary of the diocese, Hieromonk Korniliy (Molev), celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the missionary center of St Matrona of Moscow in Davao (Philippines).
He was assisted by a cleric of the Bratsk diocese, Priest Alexei Serebryakov, and clergy of the Philippine-Vietnamese diocese, Priest Stefan Bingkal and Priest Kirill Beñalon, ordained in Russia this year by Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi.
This is the first Liturgy celebrated by the young clergy in the Philippines. The all-night vigil was served the night before.
Priests Stefan and Kirill graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, received their bachelor’s degrees this year and returned to their homeland to serve God and His Holy Church.
They will undergo a short liturgical practice at the missionary center of St Matrona in Davao, conducting services in the Cebuano language, among other things.
After that, Father Stefan and Father Kirill will go to serve in the parishes of the diocese.
We congratulate the Filipino priests on the beginning of their service in their native land and wish them God’s help in their upcoming work!
