Feast of St Kirill and Methodius

On May 24, 2024, the Holiday of Equal-to-the-Apostles Methodius and Cyril, teachers of the Slavs, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. This day also marks the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture and the Namesday of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. His Holiness was co-served by the Hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church. Among the archpastors was Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi. Petitions for the unity of Holy Russia and special petitions for the namesake of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill were offered for a special litany. Metropolitan Juvenalius (Poyarkov) read a prayer of thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ, our God, for the blessings on His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. The Primate offered up a prayer for the unity of Holy Russia. The Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Gregory announced the congratulatory address to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on Namesake Day and presented him with an icon of the Savior Not Made with Hands, as well as a bouquet of white roses. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the participants of the divine service with the Primate’s word.
