On May 21, a meeting of the Working Group at the Synodal Missionary Department for the translation of liturgical texts into English took place. In the meeting of the Working Group led by the Chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department, Bishop Euthymius, the Secretary of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese, Hieromonk Cornelius (Molev) took part.
The decision to create a Working Group on the translation of liturgical texts into English was overdue as a result of the identification of significant discrepancies in the liturgical literature in English. The clergy faced the problem of the lack of normative liturgical texts in English in the process of organizing and conducting the liturgical practice in the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. In order to unify the liturgical texts in English used in the English-speaking parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church, it was proposed to unite the forces of clergymen, missionary practitioners carrying out missionary service in the Patriarchal Exarchates of Southeast Asia and Africa, as well as academic translation specialists.
Following the meeting, it was decided to prepare for publication an expanded text of the service book in English, including the following of the All-Night Vigil and Liturgy with detailed comments on the actions of the priest and deacon.
