In November 2025, Typhoon Kalmaegi, which killed over 100 people in the Philippines, struck central Vietnam. The typhoon flooded more than 52,000 homes. Airports in the region were suspended, and flights were canceled or postponed.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, parishioners of the Orthodox Parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Nha Trang prepared and distributed over 300 hot meals, a large quantity of bottled water, and warm clothing, life jackets, and other essential items to the affected residents of central Vietnam.
The parish also organized a blood drive for the victims.
Vietnamese media, covering the aftermath of the typhoon, noted the social assistance provided by the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese to those affected by the natural disaster.
